Division: Fine Arts Dept. Position Summary: In collaboration with the Choir Director, this position will accompany MS and HS Choral Ensembles throughout the entire year and assist with management of the ensemble as requested by the director. This position is paid at an hourly rate. There are no benefits associated with the position. REQUIREMENTS: Education - Masters degree, or - Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of classroom teaching experience, or - Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of job related experience - Degree in music education or piano performance preferred - Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation for a wider, global musical experience EXPERIENCE: - Experience as a choral accompanist. - Previous experience working in an English speaking work environment preferred SKILLS: - Strong piano skills - Good communication skills - Detail and task oriented - Ability to speak/listen/read in English - Ability to read and play an open choral score preferred - Strong sight reading skills - Native English speaker General Expectations - A willingness to work in a flex-time position o Schedule will include evening performances - Team player - Dependable - Comfortable interacting with people from other cultures Job Specific Expectations will be assigned from the following: - Accompany three (3) High School Ensembles: Concordia Singers, Chamber Singers, and Bel Canto for rehearsals and dress rehearsals -2 rehearsals per week. (Est. 405 hours) - Accompany five (5) Middle School Ensembles: 7/8 Girls Choir, 7/8 Boys Choir, 7/8 Auditioned Choir, 5/6 Beginning Choir, 5/6 Intermediate Choir on a daily basis and for all dress rehearsals. Be a support for management of this group. (Est. 450 hrs) - Accompany two Before School Ensembles for 3 rehearsals and 2 concerts - Play for concerts during the year. (Est. 21 hrs) - Play for Chapel/Devotions/Assembly Performance/Graduation/Baccalaureate/Fine Arts Banquet. (Est. 4 hrs) - Guarantee 732 hours of pay, including 21 hours a concert pay. - Assist with other performances as needed –payment to be negotiated - Assist with substitute teaching when the choral director is away. (Sub rate as set by school policy)
